Wey & Arun Canal 9/8/15

On Sunday 9/8/15 Gary Staples organised a Club trip on the Wey and Arun Canal which is currently being restored to its former glory when it was connected to the Wey Navigation near Godalming and to the River Arun South of Billingshurst. The weather was very sunny and it was in the high 20’s, so everyone had a sun hat and sun cream.

After the trip Gary made the following comments about the trip:-

“Well done to everyone on yesterday’s trip. It was a lovely sunny day with lots of dragonflys and butterflies about.”
It was a tough 6.5miles with the 7 lock portages made even harder by the lack of appropriate landing stages.”

I would agree with Gary it was a tough 6.5 miles but it was an enjoyable day out in the summer sun, here are some pictures of the trip:-
